Sigurjón Jóhannsson the artist
Sigurjón is born in Siglufjörður 1939 he graduated from MR, Junior College Secondary Grammar School, 1959 and practiced painting and architecture in Ítaly. Sigurjón studied at the Icelandic College of Art and Craft and in the Artschool at Freyjugata to 1963 when he went for a one year study visit to London.

Sigurjón was one of the founders of the SÚM group, a group that rebelled against the prevailing ideas in the art world in the 70’s. He did his first scenic design in 1967. Since then Sigurjón has been involved in versatile/variable design projects and has had a very productive career as a scenographer in both theatres and films.
